Thanks for stopping by! Whatever Things Are True covers politics, policy, and parenting in international adoption. Too often, the way we talk about international adoption reminds me of that old fable about The Blind Men and the Elephant – we tend to confuse one small part of the animal for the whole beast. Although I’m the mother of three via international adoption, I try to take a child-centered approach to adoption issues. I hope you’ll stick around and share your thoughts, too.

Give a Bra - Studio Samuel

Now through February 1, the Studio Samuel Foundation is collecting new and gently used bras for the girls and young women living in the government orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Studio Samuel provides life skills, medical care, HIV treatments (if necessary) and fair income to young women aging out of the orphanage system in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

NYC residents can drop off garments in Union Square; the rest of us can mail them in. This is a great way to give a lift to a young girl. Let's show our support! Puns intended. Send those bras to:
